When we first envisioned Phala Folks, we knew that the success of any orchard begins with choosing the right home. Alagum, a beautiful village in the Sakhi Gopal region of Odisha, offers exactly what we were looking for — rich, fertile soil, a favorable climate, and a long-standing agricultural heritage. This region is known for its connection to the land, where farming is not just work, but a way of life passed down through generations.

The balanced rainfall, good sunlight, and soil rich in nutrients make Alagum an ideal place for cultivating fruits naturally, without rushing the process. Here, the environment supports the slow, healthy growth of fruit trees, allowing them to thrive and produce flavorful, nutrient-rich harvests. One of the things that makes Phala Folks special is that we are a female-owned and led business — a fact we take immense pride in. Guavas First — The Foundation of Our Orchard

Every big dream starts with a first step. For us, that step is guavas.

Over the next two months, we are planting 700 guava trees — carefully selected, spaced, and planted to ensure healthy growth and long-term productivity. Guavas are known for their resilience and rich nutritional value, and we believe they are the perfect fruit to begin this journey. They symbolize strength, simplicity, and abundance — values that reflect what we hope Phala Folks will stand for.

This isn’t mass production. This is mindful farming — taking the time to prepare the land, nourish the soil, and plant each tree with care. We are involved in every step of the process, learning, adapting, and working hard to ensure that our orchard is not only productive but also sustainable.
